Last Updated: January 2018

What you’re getting with this Bissell is a top of the range model regarding performance and power. This is an expensive piece of equipment, and it more than makes up for that concerning what it can do. At the same time, it has a large capacity clean water tank for easy filling and many more features that make this suitable for cleaning the entirety of a large home or even for using as part of a small cleaning business.

Often the decision you have to make when it comes to buying carpet cleaners and spot cleaners is whether you’re going to lean more toward performance or more toward portability and price. This is certainly a unit that comes in on the performance end of things which means it could make a great investment for anyone with a large property that regularly collects unfortunate marks and stains or for someone who wants to set up their own cleaning business. In short, this is a carpet cleaner that can replace a professional carpet cleaning service and if that’s what you’re looking for then you’ll be blown away with this unit.

As mentioned, this is a great device that can help you to get a fantastically thorough clean. It also comes with a large handle that you can use to pull or push the unit around, and that means it’s ideal for giving your property an entirely clean and getting to every last bit of carpet. As is often the case, you also get a few fancy features thrown in to help improve the performance. For starters, you get a commercial deep cleaning 2 motor, which promises excellent power that goes edge to edge. This ensures that you won’t be left with grime around the skirting boards where lesser units can sometimes struggle to reach.

This is not a light machine, and it is not a small machine. They weren’t lying when they called it ‘big green’ and the whole machine weighs around 42 pounds before you have put the water in. This essentially means that you’re going to need a fair amount of strength simply to move it around and that in turn means it won’t be highly suitable for the elderly or even someone very small living on their own! And when you consider that it is 20.5 x 11 x 42.2 inches, it’s also clear that this product isn’t going to be particularly easy to store.

But with all that said once you’re up and going it should be relatively easy to use. The adjustable handle is a great start and on top of that, you also get some useful indicators and even self-monitoring. The flow indicator monitors the levels of water and solution and tells you when you need to refill. Thanks to the large capacity tank that means you won’t need to keep running back to the sink. Although it’s useful to remember that these large tanks can take a while to fill in the first place!

There is some mixed opinion regarding which attachments you get, and it might be partly luck of the drawer. Some users report receiving upholstery attachments though others say they had to buy them separately.

Warranty & Support

The BG10 comes with one-year limited manufacturer warranty. This isn’t particularly impressive and especially when you consider that Bissell offers a much better warranty on some of their other products. Specifically, the B6 comes with a five-year warranty, and you get 10 years for the similar 10N2! If this is something, you’re keen to get then you might want to consider those alternative products.

Overall, this is a very big and powerful machine. If you’re looking for something that will give you a professional-level clean on a large surface area, then you won’t go far wrong. However, the large size and hefty weight mean that this product won’t be for everyone. This is ideal for someone with a large home or someone who wants to start their own cleaning business. For those in smaller properties, a lighter unit from Hoover might be better suited.
